PRESENTS: SIMPLE AND CONTINUOUS
Hey, guys ,in this lesson we are going to compare the present simple and present continuous tense. We are going to study the differences and do exercises together. It is a very common problem to confuse these two tenses.
- SIMPLE (Marked in blue):These terms can be used with personal pronoun + do,don’t, does, doesn’t + verb.
- Beware!!, cause do, do,don’t, does, doesn’t are unnecessary for affirmative topics, for example: Lily wears white (marked in green).
- CONTINUOUS(Marked in red): These terms can be used with personal pronoun + verb "be" determined by other forms + verb with a final "ing".
1. Excuse me do you speak English?
2. I have a cup of wine but, I don't smoke.
3. Why do you laugh at me?
4. What does she do? She is a dentist.
5. I don't want to go out. It's raining.
6. Where do you come from? From Canada?
7. How much does cost this car? It costs $ 40000.
8.I don't talk to you at the moment because I'm working.
9. George is a good tennis player but he doesn't play very often.
10. Excuse me, do you speak English or Spanish?
11. Tom is having a shower at the moment.
12. They don't watch the television very often.
13. Listen! Somebody is singing.
14. She’s tired. She wants to go home.
15. How often do you read the newspaper?
16. Excuse me, but you are sitting in my place.
17. I’m sorry. I don't understand this. Please speak more slowly.
18.You can't interrupt me, I am in the office and I am reading.
19. What time does she work every day, I think she works at 2:00 p.m.
20. You can turn off the radio. I'm not listening to it.
21. He is not usually going to work. He usually walks.
